Habitat Myths!
Many people believe we just give our homes away...  Not true!  Through a solid application process, Habitat Homeowners are selected based not only on need but also the ability and confidence we have in that future homeowner to maintain the home physically as well as financially.  Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor — sweat equity — into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans.

Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation
On September 17th, we held our Annual Meeting. The meeting is an opportunity for volunteers, donors, and home owners to come together. Among other topics, activities accomplished over the past fiscal year (7/07 - 6/08) as well as the plan for the next year were presented to the attending guests.

We would like to thank the following sponsors for donating refreshments and resources for our Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation event. Without support from these community businesses, Habitat would not be able to hold as festive of a recognition event.  Please support our community partners and thank them the next time you patronize their business.

New Berlin Women Build Dedication
On Saturday, July 26th, 2008, the latest Habitat Home Owner Margaret received the keys to her house. The 2007-2008 build represents the latest accomplishment of the local affiliate. Here's a few pictures from the ceremony.

Grand Opening with the Waukesha Mayor
To the crowd, City of Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson and Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Peter Buchholz cut a green ribbon to officially welcome the Habitat HomeStore to Waukesha County. Also pictured is Michael Zirbel, Director of the HomeStore, and Janice Lato, President of the Habitat Waukesha Board of Directors.

Festivities ran all day, with coffee, cake, pizza, root beer, and most importantly huge discounts to our customers!

For a press package, please contact Michael.

To volunteer in the HomeStore or learn more about other volunteer opportunities, please contact Dawn.

Thank you to several sponsors:

Special Thanks...

The Habitat HomeStore would like to extend an extra thank you to Crystal Toicen, Manager of Little Caesars on Sunset, and Caesar himself for showing up to the Grand Opening of the HomeStore. Customers were treated all day to tasty pepperoni, sausage, and cheese pizza.

Pictured are Caesar and our youngest "volunteer" Brooke at the Grand Opening.

Please visit Little Ceasers at 115 W Sunset Dr. in Waukesha (Sunset and East) or call at 262-524-8116.

Eagle Scouts Revamp our Street-Front!
Over two weekends, an Eagle Scout project was executed to pull out our overgrown and chaotic street-front garden. With shovels, pruners, and plants in hand, these scouts, friends and family tamed the wild beast and added a little beauty to the downtown area. See some pictures! If you have an idea how you can help, let us know!

North Street Dedication
Thank you to all those who helped the 2006-2007 North Street build be a success!
