Habitat for Humanity homeownership provides secure affordable housing
to low-income individuals who have been living in substandard rental
units. Habitat for Humanity believes homeownership is a vital step
in creating self-esteem in both families and neighborhoods, and
is the most basic way to break successive generations of poverty.
Habitat for Humanity is an equal opportunity program. Families
are selected based on their level of need, willingness to partner
and accept responsibility, and their ability to pay the mortgage.

apply.
To qualify for a home you must:
- Have a need for safe and decent housing; For example, your
family must be living in substandard housing, such as housing
with poor heating, bad plumbing, bad wiring, leaks in the roof,
overcrowding (three to a bedroom), unsanitary or unsafe conditions.
- Have lived in our service area for over one year; our service
area is made up of all of Waukesha County.
- Be a first-time homebuyer; Be willing to partner with Habitat
by building your home (or someone else’s home) with us for
at least 300 hours and by attending at least 100 hours of homeowner
education classes.
- Have a steady income .
- Have a good credit, no felony convictions and no more than
one conviction for a misdemeanor.
